About Gamblers Anonymous
Gamblers Anonymous is a 12-step peer support fellowship for people who have a desire to stop gambling. GA complements clinical treatment but does not replace it. The fellowship does not provide therapy, diagnosis, medication, or formal treatment programs. Members support each other through shared experience, the 12 steps, and weekly meetings.
There are no fees, no dues, no insurance billing, and no intake paperwork. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling.
What We Offer Locally
- •9 weekly meetings across Baton Rouge and Hammond
- •24/7 hotline staffed by local members
- •Strong long-term recovery presence — at least 10 members with more than 20 years of continuous recovery, including one member who recently celebrated 34 years off the bet
- •Open to anyone with a desire to stop gambling, regardless of referral source
- •Signed attendance verification available for clients who need documentation for treatment courts, probation, or clinical programs
Attendance Verification for Courts and Treatment Programs
Attendance verification is a normal part of how Gamblers Anonymous meetings operate. The member chairing each meeting will sign attendance documentation as part of their service responsibility. Clients can bring standard court or treatment-program attendance forms to any meeting.
